Introduction to R for statistical analysis

INTRODUCTION

The aim of the workshop is to provide an introduction to R, a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. Focus of the workshop will be on getting familiar with the R environment, to use R for manipulation and exploration of data, and to perform simple statistical analyses. Hands-on exercises will form a large part of the workshop. After introduction of a topic, participants can work through some exercises, familiarizing themselves with the ideas.

The course is aimed at PhD-students that work with data requiring basic statistical analyses. No prior knowledge of R is expected from the participants.

PROGRAMME  
This course is aimed at scientists who have started to work with R and want to know more about the procedures and options of the programme. No prior knowledge of R is expected.

* Day 1, morning: introduction into R language, data structures, data manipulation
* Day 1, afternoon: graphics, simple programming
* Day 2, morning: basic statistics and simulation
* Day 2, afternoon: linear models, miscellanea

PhD participants of PE&RC, WIMEK/SENSE, with an approved Education Plan (TSP).

Note: For WIAS PhD's with an approved TSP the fee will be paid by the  WIAS secretary
