In August this year The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has approved a PE&RC Graduate programme proposal for funding. This proposal involves both the master phase and the PhD route. PE&RC will receive a grant of € 800,000 to appoint four PhD candidates.
The programme involves PE&RC groups from Wageningen University, Utrecht University, University of Twente (ITC) and the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW)
The aim of the Graduate Programme
is to create an excellent educational and research environment for highly
talented young researchers. The programme is intended to introduce
procedures and structures leading to:
greater freedom for prospective PhD candidates as regards the choice of research topic, the choice of supervisors and the opportunity to draft their own research proposal;
the recruitment of talented researchers from the Netherlands and abroad;
selection by the programme so that only highly talented students are offered positions to conduct doctoral research;
the best possible
preparation and excellent supervision and support of Master students and PhD
candidates.
