THE PHD PROGRAMME

The PE&RC PhD Programme consists of a research component (conducting research under supervision and writing a thesis) and a smaller education component (15 % of the total PhD period). For more information about the Training and Education Programme click here.

Upon completion of the PE&RC PhD Programme, the PhD candidate is expected to be:

  1. Able to function as an independent scientist
  2. Able to integrate the PhD work in the theoretical framework of the research field concerned as well as relating it to bordering research fields
  3. Competent in identifying priority areas of research and accordingly formulating testable questions and hypotheses pertinent to this research.
  4. Competent in communicating objectives, results and implications of research in scientific journals, scientific gatherings and to the general public
  5. Familiar with current research in PE&RC

Once the thesis of a candidate has been approved by the reading committee and the candidate has defended the thesis in public, he/she will receive a doctorate in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation.
