Members needed for the Modelling and Simulation Discussion Group
Modelling and Simulation Discussion Group – members needed
The Modelling and Simulation Discussion Group has -- unlike many Wageningen University (WU) PhD discussion groups -- also a strong input from Wageningen Research (WR), thus offering the best of both worlds: WU often brings fresh perspectives and innovations, while WR contributes deep experience in maintaining and applying models. This blend has made our discussions both rich and practical. Topics include code maintenance, using AI, model development and specific applied models, where “model” is a broad definition, including agent-based, statistical, differential equation, neural network or just more conceptual models. Our discussions are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month, typically from 12:30 to 14:00 at latest; the upcoming one is planned for 16 December 2025. We also maintain a MS Team (https://edu.nl/7fvhu).
Currently, the three organisers – Luc, Erwin, and Jillian – are keen to keep the group going. However, to do so sustainably, we need support from others, for example to help identify speakers and assist with organizing the sessions.
Note that for PhD candidates willing to help, participation in the group may be eligible for ECTS credits.
If you're interested in contributing or continuing with the group, or have any questions, please let luc.steinbuch@wur.nl know asap (if possible before the end of November).
