Efficient Writing Strategies

Scope

Efficient Writing Strategies will guide you through the different stages of an effective writing process and give you the opportunity to discover your strengths and weaknesses and the strategies that work best for you. At the same time, you will make a good start to your writing task, be it an article, research paper or proposal.

This course will be offered at the University of Amsterdam, and in collaboration with Wageningen Graduate Schools (WGS).

Course objectives
  • Learn to identify pros & cons of different writing strategies
  • Learn to divide the writing process into different activities
  • Learn to understand, plan, write and revise your writing task
  • Detect and solve issues concerning productivity, the research questions, structure, style and language
  • Use feedback as a fruitful tool, whether you are the giver or the receiver of the feedback

Note that one needs to attend all sessions and submit all assignments on time to receive a certificate.

Note:

  • If you need an invoice to complete your payment, please send an email to office.pe@wur.nl, including ALL relevant details that should be mentioned on the invoice (e.g., purchase order no., specific addresses, attendees, etc.).
  • The Early-Bird policy is such that the moment of REGISTRATION (and not payment) is leading for determining the fee that applies to you.
  • Please make sure that your payment is arranged within two weeks after your registration.
  • It is the participant's responsibility to make sure that he/she (or his/her secretary) completes the payment correctly and in time.
PE&RC Cancellation Conditions

You may cancel free of charge up to four weeks before the start of the course. After this date you will be charged a fee of € 410,-. Unless:

  • You can find someone to replace you in the course and supply the course coordinator with the name and contact information of your replacement. In this case you will only be charged a € 50,- cancellation fee.
  • You have a valid reason to cancel (illness or death in the family 1st or 2nd degree). In this case you will be charged the reduced fee and your supervisor/PI must send a mail indicating the reason for cancellation.

Note: If you would like to cancel your registration, ALWAYS inform us and please do not assume that by NOT paying the participation fee, your registration is automatically cancelled, because it isn't (and do note that you will be kept to the cancellation conditions).
