Presentation: Introducing the ancient cereal "fonio" in the Sahelian belt of Chad

The presentation will elaborate on the ecological and economical background conditions in Chad and introduce the fonio millet and its agronomical and nutritional properties. A discussion will follow on the different possible cropping systems like crop rotation and intercropping. An explanation will also be given on how suitable these systems are for fonio production in the Sahelian belt of Chad and highlight their major advantages and constraints.
