Functional-Structural Plant Modelling discussion group (FSPM)

You are here

The Functional-Structural Plant Modelling discussion group focuses on modelling the relationships between architecture of plants and crops and physiological processes determining plant functioning and yield in interaction with environmental factors. The modelling tool used is functional-structural plant (FSP) modelling. FSP modelling captures growth and development over time of the 3D architecture of plants as governed by physiological processes which, in turn, depend on environmental factors. Topics include, but are not limited to, plant growth and development in relation to environmental drivers, above and below-ground plant-plant interactions, resource foraging in monocultures and mixed-species stands, and plant-climate feedbacks.

In our meetings, we address topics in the domain of FSP modelling, and provide the opportunity for the participants to discuss new ideas and results, but also modelling issues and challenges. These discussions are started through a presentation by one of the participants. All participants are expected to actively contribute to the group meetings.
