Sustainable Intensification of Agricultural Systems (SIAS)

You are here

This discussion group aims to connect early career scientists for lively discussions on the topic of sustainable intensification of agricultural systems (SIAS). We discuss the application of production ecology and systems theory in rural contexts across the world, from a bio-physical and a socio-economic perspective, at the level of the field, the farm(ing household) and the farming system.

We meet once every month, in hybrid form. In these discussion sessions we learn from the experience and expertise of each other, and of invited speakers.

Every meeting, two group members are responsible for planning and moderating. Discussion topics can be based on publications, news articles / public debate, and your own experiences (methodological successes and learnings). Presentations are kept short, so that there is ample time to discuss the process, problems and progress of research on SIAS.

In addition to the monthly meetings, there are one or two excursions per year, organized by the SIAS board.

Please email discuss.sias@gmail.com if you have any questions and to subscribe to our mailing list.
