Information day: Working at an International Organisation (IO)

The purpose of this day is to inform you about job opportunities at IOs, to increase your knowledge about the organisations, to give practical tips on how to prepare for a job at an IO and to make you enthusiastic about working there.

This day is organised by Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and the National Coordinator for International Functions (NCIF).The day will begin with a plenary opening with a brief introduction of the IOs. After this, there will be several break-out sessions. In these sessions, the IOs will talk about their own organisation, how the application procedures work and how you can best prepare for them. Between the break-out sessions there will be master classes on various topics, for example about professionalising a CV. The day will be concluded by a plenary discussion with WUR President Prof. dr. Louise O. Fresco, who has worked at the FAO for ten years. We conclude with a reception.

Ooutreachdag plaats met Internationale Organisaties (IO’s) die gespecialiseerd zijn in landbouw, voedsel en -zekerheid. Bij dit evenement zullen de Food and Agricultural Organisation, the International Atomic Energy Agency (met laboratoria die ook werken voor de FAO), the World Food Program, the World Health Organisation and the International Fund for Agricultural Development vertegenwoordigd zijn.

Het doel van deze dag is om je te informeren over de banenkansen bij IO’s, je kennis over de organisaties te vergroten, praktische tips te geven over hoe je je voorbereidt voor een baan bij een IO en om je te enthousiasmeren om er te gaan werken. Deze dag wordt georganiseerd door Wageningen University & Research (WUR) en de Nationaal Coördinator Internationale Functies (NCIF).

De dag zal beginnen met een plenaire opening waarbij de IO’s kort worden geïntroduceerd. Hierna zullen er meerdere break-out sessies zijn. In deze sessies zullen de IO’s vertellen over hun eigen organisatie, hoe de sollicitatieprocedures werken en hoe je je daar het beste op voor kan bereiden. Tussen de break-out sessies zullen er masterclasses zijn over verschillende onderwerpen, bijvoorbeeld over het professionaliseren van een CV. De dag zal afgesloten worden door een plenair gesprek met WUR-President Prof. Louise O. Fresco, die tien jaar bij de FAO heeft gewerkt.
