First WUR soil platform meeting on the 1st of July 2021 from 15:30-17:00

You are here

Dear Colleague,

As announced earlier, we are creating a WUR-wide soil platform with a webinar series that we have named ‘Soil on 1’. With this WUR platform, we aim to create a broad and pro-active WUR soil community with frequent meetings (for now online and in the future blended meeting) to exchange knowledge, improve cooperation, improve the flow of knowledge from fundamental to applied research, develop new collaborations and showcase WUR research and solutions. We think that these meetings will not only give the possibility to exchange ideas, but also to initiate future collaborations for Horizon Europe calls and other funding opportunities. We aim to have a divers and attractive program for all.

The first meeting (of a total of 3-4 in 2021) will be held on July 1st from 15:30-17:00. In this webinar, we will discuss how the EU Mission on Soil Health and Food may influence future research directions within Europe, worldwide and within WUR. In addition, we like to discuss the link between the Mission and soil health strategies, policies and research and innovation strategies as well as soil initiatives within WUR.

The program of the first meeting is:

  1. Welcome
  2. News and highlights on soils
  3. Introduction to mission soil health and food (Johan Bouma)
  4. Pitches of relevant collaborative large projects within WUR
  5. Debate about how the Mission on Soil Health and Food may change research at WUR.
  6. Soil of the month
  7. Break-out session: discussion in small groups how to contribute to the Soil Mission’s objectives with research at WUR
  8. 30-second feedback from break-out groups
  9. Closure and introduction next meeting

We kindly ask you to register as soon as possible so you will be able to join the webinar and platform by sending an email to soil.platform@wur.nl. If you are interested in the soil platform, but are unavailable for this webinar, you can also indicate this by sending an email to soil.platform@wur.nl.

With kind regards,

Annelein Meisner (CSA), Peter Kuikman (WENR), Janjo de Haan (WPR) and Giulia Bongiorno (SBL and WU Soil Cluster)
