Workshop Fair Data and data reuse for ESG researchers

You are here

Data is the cornerstone of science. While we –scientists– are trained to publish papers and reports, funding, society and science itself demand us to give more attention to data itself.

Data should be FAIR: Findable, Accessible (for the right persons; so not necessarily “open”), Interoperable and Reusable. Having a Data Management Plan is the first step, but how do we realize those intentions in daily practice?

This workshop, provided by ESG scientists Cindy Quik and Luc Steinbuch, provides tools for this implementation. Topics include: writing an appropriate README file, storing large spatial datasets, handling programming code, choosing a proper license and a repository, sharing data during research, making your data reusable, and reusing the data from others. All ESG researchers are welcome (WU & WENR), such as project leaders, data processors, PhD candidates, PhD supervisors etc. A part of the workshop will be hands-on.

When and where:         Tuesday, October 18, whole day, GAIA building

Participation:                 Free of charge
