Identifying and Tackling Postdoc Challenges

The route to effective and efficient career development

Scope

Doing a postdoc brings an array of challenges. It is a temporary position where one works in a competitive environment where much can be demanded, the workload is high, a young family may have high demands while many do not know what the career perspectives are or what they actually want.

One can take up a postdoc position for various reasons: It is a job, it is the next step in an academic career, it is a stepping stone to a position outside of academia or it is not actually clear why one has taken the position. But even when it is clear why, many do not know what should be done during the postdoc to reach their ambitions in and effective and efficient manner and how to tackle the challenges that one is confronted

This postdoc retreat focusses on supporting you in setting out a clear plan to reach your ambitions during your postdoc. More specifically:

  1. We start off by identifying why you are doing a postdoc and how this might contribute to your career ambitions.
  2. Accordingly we focus on the drivers of success that will contribute to you getting most out of your postdoc
  3. We then focus on the potential challenges you might encounter in your postdoc and how these can be tackled
  4. Finally we focus on tackling these challenges  via a SMART plan of action
  5. To support you in tackling challenges after the workshop we will form peer-coaching teams.

  EARLY-BIRD FEE 2 REGULAR FEE 
PE&RC postdocs   € 100,- € 150,-
Other postdocs € 200,- € 250,-

1 The fee includes accommodation, all meals, course material, coffee/tea, and water. It does not include beverages in the bar. 
2 The Early-Bird Fee applies to anyone who REGISTERS ON OR BEFORE 1 October 2023

Note:

  • Payment: payment information will follow in the confirmation mail.
  • If you need an invoice to complete your payment, please send an email to office.pe@wur.nl, including ALL relevant details that should be mentioned on the invoice (e.g., purchase order no., specific addresses, attendees, etc.).
  • Please make sure that your payment, if applicable, is arranged within two weeks after your registration, or indicate in the registration form that you will pay in cash on the day itself.
  • It is the participant's responsibility to make sure that he/she (or his/her secretary) completes the payment correctly and in time.
PE&RC Cancellation Conditions
  • Up to 2 weeks prior to the start of the event, cancellation is free of charge. After this date full fee will be charged including €25,- administrative fees

Note: If you would like to cancel your registration, ALWAYS inform us (and do note that you will be kept to the cancellation conditions)
