First WUR soil platform meeting (Thursday 1 July)

Within WUR, we are creating a WUR-broad soil platform that we have named ‘Soil on 1’. With this platform, we like to create a pro-active WUR-broad soil community with frequent meetings (for now online and in future blended meeting) to exchange knowledge, improve cooperation, improve the flow of knowledge from fundamental to applied research, develop new collaborations and showcase WUR research and solutions. We think that these meetings will not only give the possibility to exchange ideas, but also to initiate future collaborations for Horizon Europe calls and other opportunities.

The first meeting (of a total of 3 - 4 in 2021) will be held on the 1st of July from 15:30-17:00. In this webinar, we will discuss how the EU mission of soil health and food may influence future research directions within Europe, the globe and WUR. In addition, we like to study the link between the mission and other soil health strategies/policies/ Research and Innovation strategies as well as soil initiatives within WUR.

• News and highlights
• Introduction to mission soil health and food (Johan Bouma)
• Pitches that give a broad overview of relevant collaborative large projects within WU and WR
• Debate about how the mission on soil health and food may change research goals and aims and how to best make use of this.
• Soil of the month
• Break-out in small groups to discuss: how soil mission may affect research at WUR in smaller groups and how we can make use of this as WUR community
• 30-second feedback from groups
• Closure and introduction next meeting
